Addiction Plan: 3 Important Steps
At Journey Road we make sure our treatment plan is much more than just providing a prescription. By guiding our clients through comprehensive care, we focus on helping them get their lives back and into recovery.
1. Medical Assisteed Treatment (MAT)
Because of its proven effectiveness, Journey Road believes the most appropriate treatment plan for those struggling with opioid addiction consists of utilizing Medical Assisted Treatment (MAT). MAT uses a combination of pharmaceutical medications and counseling to address clients’ addiction issues, decreasing cravings and allowing for functioning at a level that allows clients to rebuilding their lives.
Medications Used:
- Buprenorphine: Journey Road uses different formulations of a buprenorphine/naloxone combination to treat opioid addiction. This composite of medication has been shown to be effective in reducing cravings for opiates, allowing for function with a “clear” mind. Depending on the situation and insurance coverage, Suboxone, Zubsolv or Bunavail may be used.
- Naltrexone: Journey Road uses an injectable form of naltrexone called Vivitrol to help treat opioid addiction. This long-acting medication has been shown to be effective in reducing cravings for opiates allowing for healthier functioning through recovery. Injections of Vivitrol are given every 30 days.
2. Urine Drug Screens/Urine Toxicology
For their recovery and medical health, it is critical for our clients to take their medications only as prescribed and to stop using all other mind-altering medications/drugs. Urine testing allows us to confirm that medication prescribed is being taken accurately with no other substances and helps us guarantee client health.
3. Counseling
Counseling is essential and mandatory at Journey Road Treatment Centers. While we require counseling, we do not currently provide it in-house. Instead, we refer clients out to licensed DHMA-certified counseling companies, or you may choose your own provider. First, we believe counseling will provide clients the emotional and mental support they need as they journey to recovery. Counseling helps clients let go of their past and learn skills they need to excel in life.
